You’re Working Too Hard™
Mindful Movement Beginner Series

A different way to approach chronic pain — through awareness, curiosity, and easier movement.

If you've been living with chronic pain, chances are you've worked incredibly hard to get better.

You've stretched.

Strengthened.

Worked on your posture.

Searched for the right diagnosis.

Tried one treatment after another.

And if you're like many of the people I've worked with over the years, you may be wondering if you're just missing the right exercise or technique.

What if the missing ingredient isn't working harder?

What if it's learning how to do less?

The You're Working Too Hard™ Mindful Movement Beginner Series is an introduction to a different relationship with your body. Through five simple, mindfulness-based movement lessons, you'll explore how unnecessary effort, unconscious habits, and protective tension can contribute to your experience of pain – and discover practical ways to undo those patterns yourself so you can move with greater ease.

This isn't about finding the right technique or practitioner that can fix you…it’s about learning how YOU can create the conditions for change.

Whether you're exploring a mind-body approach for the first time or looking for a practical companion to your chronic pain recovery, this self-paced course offers simple tools you can begin using today.

Five short, practical lessons ▪ No equipment ▪ No complicated routines ▪ Just $47 for lifetime access

You’ve Been Working Too Hard…

…to get out of pain.

Many of us have learned to approach pain like a problem to solve.

Try harder.

Do more.

Fix what's wrong.

And that can make it feel like healing’s a full-time job.

But persistent pain doesn't usually respond to more effort.

Sometimes the most meaningful shifts begin when we stop trying to figure out, "How do I fix myself?" and start asking, "What is my body trying to tell me?"

That's the spirit of this course.

Rather than teaching you how to "correct" your body, this course teaches you a series of simple movement practices that help you notice how you're moving, where you're creating unnecessary effort, and what begins to change when you approach your body with curiosity instead of trying to force an outcome.

When we approach our bodies and movement with curiosity rather than force, we give our nervous system an opportunity to experience something new.

Greater ease.

Greater safety.

Greater choice.

That’s where change begins.

Your Body May Be Working Too Hard...

...even during everyday movement.

Most of us use far more effort doing the day-to-day basics of sitting, standing, moving and breathing than we realize – especially when we’re living with pain.

We brace against too much movement.

Hold our breath.

Constantly scan our bodies.

Tighten muscles that don't need to be working.

Try to create the “just right” posture.

Those habits are things we do to be careful, keep our bodies safe, and avoid pain. And over time, they can become so familiar that they simply feel “normal.”

But they also keep our nervous systems constantly running on alert, and that itself can be a source of chronic pain & tension.

The goal of this course isn't to teach you the "perfect" way to move.

It's to help you notice and undo the habits that no longer work for you – and discover easier, more efficient options.

You’ll learn how to slow down, notice what you’re doing automatically, then try something different.

As unnecessary effort begins to relax, many people notice they move with greater comfort, confidence, and freedom.

And for many of my clients these skills have been just what’s needed to turn the tide against their chronic pain or tension.

What You’ll Explore

Each lesson introduces a foundational skill that you can begin using immediately in everyday life.

Lesson 1 — Mindful Awareness

Learn the foundational skill behind every meaningful change: slowing down and noticing what you’re doing as it happens, moment to moment.

Lesson 2 – Active Rest

Discover how much effort your body is using without you realizing it – and learn how to let go of the effort you don’t need. Many people experience this practice as one of the simplest ways to begin changing their relationship with pain.

Lesson 3 – Inside-Out Breathing

Explore a relaxed and expansive way of breathing that supports ease throughout your body instead of creating even more work.

Lesson 4 – Eye Work

Experience how simple shifts in visual awareness can influence muscular tension throughout your entire system.

Lesson 5 – Pre-Movement

Bring it all together by learning how to prepare for movement with less effort and greater awareness – creating new whole-body habits that can support you long after the course is over.

These Ideas Continue to Shape My Work Today

These practices grew out of years of working with people in pain as a Rolfer, movement educator, and Hakomi Practitioner. While my work with clients continues to evolve and now centers on Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Hakomi-based Mind-Body Coaching, I return to these foundational mindfulness & movement explorations with my clients because they consistently help people experience their bodies with greater ease, curiosity, and confidence.

Again and again, I've seen that meaningful change rarely begins with trying harder.

It begins with paying attention differently.

Learning to notice.

Learning to work less.

Learning to trust that your body may be capable of far more ease than you think.

This course will help you begin that process.

What clients are saying:

“I had some significant breakthroughs with Mike by learning how some of my long-standing aches and pains were the result of how I was carrying my body. This was directly related to my level of stress and tension. I greatly appreciated the mindfulness aspects of being in my body and recognizing what a complex but amazing thing it is. This was by far one of the best investments I have ever made.”  --Clay N.

“Working together, I began to see the connections of how my daily life events and emotional responses affect how I hold my physical body, often in ways that cause unnatural movement and pain. With Mike’s guidance I gained the ability to analyze and correct problems in my physical body and am able to walk my dogs daily, and enjoy a normal life, with far less pain and much more happiness. Thank you Mike!” –Gail L.

“I went to Mike for help with back pain. Wow! He helped that and a treasure of many other things. My posture is better, my movements are more fluid, and I am becoming aware of the unnecessary tension in my body.” –Branch N.

“Since we’ve worked together, not only am I playing tennis consistently two (sometimes three!) times a week, I have significantly less pain in general. I feel like I have the tools to be more aware of how external stressors and movements trigger pain for me and am more mindful of how to navigate that, and in some cases, make changes to avoid negative impact. I am forever grateful that you’ve helped me get back on the court, and for the impact you’ve had on my overall self-awareness and growth!” –Nicki B.

You May Be Working Harder Than You Need To…

Changing your relationship with pain doesn't always begin with another treatment.

Sometimes it begins with something much simpler.

A new way of paying attention.

A little less effort.

A little more curiosity.

If you're ready to explore what becomes possible when you slow down and start listening to your body, I'd be excited to guide you through these five foundational practices.
