Lessons From 2021
Year-end is an incredibly important time for we humans to reconnect with the slower time of the natural flow -- to find quietude and time to reflect on the year that's coming to completion. That can be a short daily practice, a day or weekend you claim for yourself, or an entire vacation devoted to integrating all you've done this year. Here are my first reflections on what was powerful for me in 2021; perhaps this will inspire some rest & reflection of your own this holiday season!
Transformation Doesn't Happen in an Instant
Not every epiphany sparks immediate, radical change. February 2021 marks 20 years, to the month, from what I lovingly refer to as my “epiphany” – the moment that jumpstarted lasting change in my life. That lasting change, however, didn’t happen overnight. Sometimes change starts less with an explosion and more with a tiny seed being planted. With time, resources, and patience, that seed holds the potential to blossom into something new and big. But you gotta work it.
Hakomi: Powerful Mind-Body Technology for Your Transformation
One of the biggest leaps forward I’ve had during my 12-year journey as a wellness practitioner has been the discovery, study, and integration of Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology into my work. Hakomi is a mindfulness-centered, somatic psychology-grounded method of connecting the dots between our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual realms. Using it, we get to discover the relationships between those realms and learn how we’re foundationally wired to operate. It’s incredibly powerful work, but I’ve found it’s even niche-ier and less well-known than Rolfing, so let’s explore Hakomi here a bit so you can get a feel for what it’s like and if it’s right for you.
