Recovery vs. Rest
What if the thing you reach for when you’re exhausted isn’t actually what helps you recover? After an intense day, it’s natural to want to collapse on the couch, scroll your phone, or zone out in front of the TV. But there’s an important distinction between rest and recovery. Drawing on lessons from peak-performance science, this post explores how simple activities like walking, exercise, time in nature, creativity, socializing, or other forms of meaningful engagement can help your brain and nervous system recalibrate after a demanding day. The goal isn’t perfect balance — it’s finding ways to offset the particular demands of your everyday life.
Touching Into Presence Podcast Interview
I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed on the Touching Into Presence podcast by my good friend and fellow practitioner Andrew Rosenstock. In our chat we discussed my career journey, the concept of Mind-Body Coaching, and the complexities of working with clients. We also explored the principles and practices of Hakomi, the importance of mindfulness, and the value of humor in therapy. Lastly, we discussed the challenges and rewards of our roles and the significance of bringing emotional connection into business. Have a listen!
Do Regular Shit
Bit of a (tongue-in-cheek) rant here but it seems to me that wellness culture & social media in general have appropriated common sense, "validated" it, & repackaged it into something amazing! and supposedly unique (and, of course, sellable!) that takes much of the joy & ease out of these things in order to superpower your Hustle or maximize who you are in some way. Simply put, bringing intensity & over-focus to your wellness “protocols” undermines much of our efforts at relaxation, stress relief & improved health. The solution is really quite simple.
